I got a call from Ted Lewis in Macon, Ga wanting to know if we did Sprinkler Repair in Georgia. I told him that we only did Irrigation Repair work in the Metro Atlanta area. at the present time. Mr. Lewis told me a story that I have heard many times, and is one reason I got into Lawn Sprinkler Repair in Georgia. He told me that his house was two years old, and in February of this year he had water coming out from under his drive way. With help from his friends, he was able to locate the shut off valve to the sprinkler system. He got in touch with the builder, and was told that they would locate the installer and call him back. So after Five months of playing phone tag with the builder, he was told that the installer could not be found.
This is a common problem with some installers (not all). The builder decides he will use a friend, of a friend, of a friends, 2nd cousin, twice removed. Now this guy has used the cheapest material, and labor he can find on this job. He knows what kind of job he has done, and hopes that he never has to return to that house again.
Mr. Lewis had one Irrigation Company in the area come out and look at it, and they told him to call a plumber. The plumber told him to call an Irrigation Company. Mr. Lewis told is sister in Alpharetta, GA this story, and she told him about Michael Golden at http://atlantasprinklerrepair.com/. After talking to Mr. Lewis on the phone he offered to pay us ($95.00 an hour driving time) to drive down to Macon and repair his system. I drove down on a Sunday, and repaired Mr. Lewis broken pipe. The installer had not only used schedule 20 pipe (should have been schedule 40), the installer only had it about two inches below ground level. The system was installed before the drive way was poured. When they poured the drive way it went right on top of the exposed pipe. This is what I call a Three Stooges Installation. It was nice to get out of town, and meet such a nice family. My thanks go out to the Lewis family for their wonderful southern hospitality.
